Stochastic
Where the close sits within the range of the last candles, from 0 to 100.
What it measures
The stochastic tells you where the close sits within the range (from low to high) of the last candles: 100 if it closes at the high, 0 if it closes at the low. Above 80 is usually called overbought and below 20, oversold.

How it’s calculated
%K = 100 × (close − lowest of n) ÷ (highest of n − lowest of n)
- %K over 14 candles. With %K smoothing at 1 it’s the fast stochastic (the default); at 3, the classic slow one.
- %D is the 3-candle average of %K: the signal line.
How to read it
- Zones: when overbought, the close is pinned to the period’s high; when oversold, to its low. In a trend it can stay there for a long time.
- %K against %D: when %K crosses %D, short-term momentum is switching sides.
- Divergences: price making a higher high while the stochastic makes a lower one says the rally is losing strength, and vice versa.
Built-in strategies
What the indicator already has inside and can mark for you on the chart. They show what has happened; they are not recommendations.
%K crossing %D
On by default- What it marks
- A mark in the strip when %K crosses %D. By default, only buys below oversold and sells above overbought.
- Alert
- Blinks when it appears; on-screen alert and sound if you turn them on.
- Turned on with
- «%K and %D crossover» and «Only buys below oversold and sells above overbought», in Signals.
Zone exit
Off by default- What it marks
- A mark when %K leaves oversold (bullish) or overbought (bearish).
- Alert
- Blinks when it appears; on-screen alert and sound if you turn them on.
- Turned on with
- «Exit from overbought / oversold», in Signals.
Regular divergences
On by default- What it marks
- A dot on each pivot and a line between the two, in the strip, when price makes a higher high and the indicator a lower one (bearish), or the other way around with the lows (bullish).
- Alert
- Blinks when it appears; on-screen alert and sound if you turn them on.
- Turned on with
- «Regular divergences», in Signals.
Hidden divergences
Off by default- What it marks
- The opposite of the regular kind: price makes a higher low and the stochastic a lower one (bullish), or the other way around with the highs. They point to the trend continuing.
- Alert
- Blinks when it appears; on-screen alert and sound if you turn them on.
- Turned on with
- «Hidden divergences», in Signals.
Only with the trend
Off by default- What it marks
- Keeps only the signals in the direction of an exponential moving average (200 by default).
- Alert
- It filters the alerts too.
- Turned on with
- «Only with the trend (average)», in Signals.
Adding it to the chart
In the chart bar, Indicators ▾ › More Indicators…. You’ll find it in the Oscillators / Momentum category. It’s drawn in its own strip, below the candles. How to move and adjust a strip is in Indicators.
Settings
Open them by double-clicking its strip, or with the ⚙ on its row in Indicators ▾. Each section collapses and expands on its own.
